Mission Statement

To provide a fun, safe, responsible way for families and friends to enjoy riding Personal Watercraft

and share the beautiful waters that the Tampa Bay Area has to offer.

Code of Ethics

  1. I will respect the rights of all users of the recreational waterways, both on public waters and on private property.
  2. I will be considerate at the launch ramps and docks, and I will get on and off the ramps quickly and not delay others.
  3. I will follow the navigation rules of the road around all other vessels, and I will learn and observe my state's rules on wake jumping.
  4. I will give all anchored or drifting vessels plenty of room.
  5. I will always operate at headway speed in "no wake" zones.
  6. When approaching shore, I will be especially aware of swimmers & other craft near shore.
  7. I will not disturb wildlife, and I will avoid areas posted for the protection of wildlife.
  8. I will not litter the shore side, and I will be careful with my fuel.
  9. I realize that my equipment, ability, weather, wave conditions, and especially other vessel traffic should determine my travel speed.
  10.  In case of emergency, I will volunteer assistance.
  11.  I will not interfere with or harass others — I realize that people judge all personal watercraft by my actions.
  12.  I will pay close attention to the noise my vessel may make and be aware of how others on boats & on shore react to that noise.

Membership Requirements

(1) A signed Membership Form

(2) A desire to have safe boating fun!

(3) Must be an American Watercraft Association Member

We require our members to join the AWA.  In order to be an AWA Charter Club, we must have our entire membership join.  The cost is minimal at just $24/yr.  An AWA membership form and explanation of benefits is provided to every member.

Dues are collected annually. Dues for the year are $12 for single membership and $24 for a family membership. The TBJSC is a nonprofit, AWA sanctioned organization with all proceeds being used for club operations, functions and charitable donations. We also encourage our members to know the Boating and Waterways rules and regulations. The TBJSC does not condone alcohol abuse or the use of drugs. As a club, we want all our members to project a positive image for our sport. The ultimate goal is safe fun for everyone!

If you are interested in joining our club, ask for a copy of our Membership Form. Fill out the necessary information, and mail your signed membership form and check to the address on top of the application: (you can also bring this to one of our meetings or rides instead of mailing).

Rules on the water  (club rides)

  1. We are a LARGE group; watch out for other riders, boaters, fisherman, swimmers, people floating in tubes, kayaks, canoes, etc. Give them plenty of room.

  2. Look over your shoulder before changing direction (head on swivel)

  3. Raise your left hand before slowing down a lot or stopping, keep it up until you see others behind you doing the same.

  4. Be aware of others and be courteous to others on the river

  5. Stay at a safe distance from other group members (about 30ft)

  6. NO splashing others or horseplay – the safety of the group depends on it.

  7. Passing is allowed but only at a safe distance and when the river permits

  8. Be aware of your wake and be aware of its effects on those around you.

  9. Riders arm straight up means a single file line

  10. NO alcohol during ride including at stops, lunch, and in between. We’ll have plenty of time for that when not riding

  11. Keep an eye on the rider behind you, If the rider behind you is gone and you can no longer see them -- stop and wait about 5 minutes before you turn around to go back

  12. If you cannot stay with the group for any reason, please let someone else know that you will be heading back. This saves time having us search for you.

  13. Maintain a pace that keeps you within sight distance of the group.

  14. Leave nobody behind, offer assistance to those in need
